Overview

Along the lines of songs like Lord I’m Discouraged and I’m Goin’ Home, Oh Death follows a similar structure, with a steady alternating bass alongside a bottleneck treble-side which complements Patton and Bertha Lee’s vocals. It’s among the handful of Vocalion recordings that Patton recorded after he was bailed from Balzoni prison in early 1934, just months before his death.
